In Christ, He Is a New Creature (2 Corinthians 5:17)

2023-10-24

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Herein is one of the most powerful truths of being in Christ. If we are in Christ, He made us into a new creature, a new creation. By making us new, he did away with the old; the old us has passed away and remains that way. All things are made new in Christ.

Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. (Isaiah 43:18-19)

We should not consider those things we were in Adam. That was all nailed to the cross with Christ. We are dead to sin, and our life is with Him. The Spirit continues,

The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen. This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise. (Isaiah 43:20-21)

He sent forth living waters to us and raised us up. He formed us anew in Christ by His Spirit. Because He formed us anew Himself, we show forth the praise of God. We could not do that before. Now, we are refashioned so that we can please Him and glorify Him in a way that was once impossible. We are here for Him, brand new, and we do not live for ourselves. Everything in what we are is wrapped up in the person of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
