Which Vail Is Done Away in Christ (2 Corinthians 3:14)

And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. (2 Corinthians 3:13-14)

To those without Christ, there is a veil that blocks the end of the Law in its full glory, which is the Lord Jesus Christ. Since we are in Christ, our understanding of the Scriptures is open. When the unsaved turn to Christ, the veil will be lifted for them also.

It is sad to say that the same veil is there for the children of Israel today for the most part.

But what happens when that veil is taken away? We know true liberty. “Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord” (2 Corinthians 3:17-18). What kind of liberty? We can see the glory of the Lord, and He changes us to be more like Him. The Word and the Spirit work together to this end that we might live freer and freer: freer from sin and the principles of the world.

In our position, we have liberty in Christ; in our experience, we learn how to access that liberty by faith in Christ.
