But of Him Are Ye in Christ Jesus (1 Corinthians 1:30)

But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. (1 Corinthians 1:30-31)
How did we get in Christ? It is “of him,” namely, the Father, which is the proper antecedent. In Christ we have all these things mentioned: Wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption.
Those last two we spoke of previously. In Christ, there is wisdom, because He is wisdom. We pray for wisdom, having full access to it because we are in Christ, the wisdom of God. When we ask for wisdom in faith, we are asking God to reveal what is already available in Jesus Christ, so we can expect answer.
We also have His righteousness since we are in Christ. Surely, we do not bring any righteousness of our own to the table. This righteousness was provided to us by God in His Son: “Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe” (Romans 3:22). We have His righteousness.
Because God provided us wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption in Christ, we thank Him and praise Him. No one can boast of any of these things since they are all gifts. That is why we can only “glory in the Lord.”
