The Redemption That Is in Christ Jesus (Romans 3:24)

Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: (Romans 3:24)
With every man a sinner and helpless before God, we depend on God to do something about our sin debt. We could not pay it without the eternal consequences of hell. Therefore, God freely justified us. Note that word “freely.” We were sinners, but He does not impute sin because that debt was placed on Jesus Christ. The ransom paid and the buying us back was paid by Jesus Christ. And to whom? The Father, for He demanded the debt be paid, and the Son paid it so we would not pay for it eternally.
This redemption is found only in Jesus Christ. Since being placed in Christ at our regeneration, we have that redemption. It is a historical and eternal fact that we count on by faith. “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace” (Ephesians 1:7). The debt was long forgiven even before we were born.
