One Body in Christ (Romans 12:5)

So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. (Romans 12:5)
We all have different things to offer the church, but we are all one body. Resultingly, we should not “think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith” (Romans 12:3). We are all here for the benefit of the body. Remember the advice King Rehoboam was supposed to take: “If thou wilt be a servant unto this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever” (1 Kings 12:7). Even the leader is supposed to serve others. We certainly see that in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Why is this? Because we are together in Christ. To serve Christ is also to serve His body, the church. We often think of our position in Christ as being something that applies to us as individuals. However, perhaps even more importantly, every Christian is in Christ together, and we are in Him to serve the others in Christ. We do that by using the spiritual gifts He has given us. We are positionally together in Him. “But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect” (Hebrews 12:22-23). The Lord is the source of our unity.
