Having Then Gifts
2021-12-08
“Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us...” (Romans 12:6)
...then there are seven example gifts given. If your gift is prophecy, “let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith” and if ministry, “let us wait on our ministering.” Clearly, there is overlap in these gifts, and to a degree, we may exercise a little bit of any of these. However, if you have been primarily gifted by God to do X, you should do X “according to the proportion of faith.” Chances are, you already want to and already do. However, be encouraged to do what God has called you to do.
Do we do this because the Lord wants us to have the warm and fuzzies inside? Not one bit. Modern Christianity teaches the “if it feels good do it” mentality. The real reason is found a few verses earlier.
For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. (Romans 12:4-5)
Where one lacks, the other picks up the slack. We are one body, and we need each other’s abilities to be a complete body.
Be who you are in Christ. Don’t try to be somebody else.
