The Holy Spirit
2022-01-04
The Holy Spirit, depending on what kind of church you are going to, is likely either overemphasized or deemphasized. He is God, yet He is distinct from the Father and the Son. He subdued the primordial waters, yet He indwells every true believer in Christ.
Over the next several days I will investigate some topics concerning the Holy Spirit. Some topics to be considered include that He is personal, He is God, His attributes, what the baptism of the Holy Spirit is, what it means to be filled with the Spirit, His relationship to spiritual gifts, what the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is, why the Spirit is the Comforter, what the seven spirits of God are, and what the renewing of the Holy Spirit is.
The Holy Spirit is important to know because His presence and leading are instrumental in the Christian life and growth. This information is also needed because the Holy Spirit is “blamed” for so many lies. How many have said, “the Spirit led me to do this or that,” when it was merely the person’s desires! There is much disservice to Him because of this. But if we humbly see Him in the correct light, He is the power of the Christian life and ministry:
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. (Acts 1:8)
