We Will Hear Thee Again of This Matter (Acts 17:32)

But did they? Here is the context:

And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again of this matter. So Paul departed from among them. Howbeit certain men clave unto him, and believed: among the which was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them. (Acts 17:32-34)

The Athenians either mocked Paul’s teaching on the resurrection, wanted to hear more, or in a few cases, believed. However, we don’t see any evidence that Paul stayed there for a long duration after this for those who wanted to hear more.

Surely, the resurrection was a challenging concept for Greek philosophers. The Gospel always needs to overcome cultural challenges. However, you must take heed how you hear concerning Jesus Christ, “for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” There may be no other day on which you can place faith in Christ, as you do not know what tomorrow holds.

And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead. (Acts 17:30-31)
