Ebenezer (1 Samuel 7:12)

During Samuel’s judgeship, the people decided to get serious about following the Lord. They forsook following other gods (1 Samuel 7:4), Samuel prayed for them (1 Samuel 7:5, 8-9), they confessed their sin (1 Samuel 7:6). It was then the LORD Himself defeated the Philistines their enemies (1 Samuel 7:10), and the army of the Israelites were successful (1 Samuel 7:11).

Then Samuel took a stone, and set it between Mizpeh and Shen, and called the name of it Ebenezer, saying, Hitherto hath the LORD helped us. (1 Samuel 7:12)

Ebenezer means “stone of help.” It was a memorial of how God delivered them. When we seek the Lord with everything and He provides our needs, remember to let others know about how the Lord has helped you. Always recall that help that He provided.
