The Lord GOD Hath Given Me the Tongue of the Learned (Isaiah 50:4)

The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned. (Isaiah 50:4)
This is the Lord Jesus speaking. In this same passage, He says, “I hid not my face from shame and spitting” and “therefore have I set my face like a flint” (Isaiah 50: 6, 7).
However, we know that Jesus did not have the formal education of a rabbi, yet He was still far beyond them in His intellect. “And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers” (Luke 2:46-47).
When they tried to get Him to stumble in His words, we read, “And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions” (Matthew 22:46).
But we see the reason for Jesus’ intellect. “...that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary.” He encouraged people with His wisdom. The woman at the well said, “Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet” (John 4:19). His wisdom led her to a knowledge of her sin and her need for the Savior.
When going to arrest Jesus, certain officers were persuaded by Him in that they said, “Never man spake like this man” (John 7:46). The Twelve also were persuaded: “Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life” (John 6:67-68). And there were so many others: “As he spake these words, many believed on him” (John 8:30).
