Tola the Son of Puah

2022-04-11

And after Abimelech there arose to defend Israel Tola the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar; and he dwelt in Shamir in mount Ephraim. And he judged Israel twenty and three years, and died, and was buried in Shamir. (Judges 10:1-2)

This is all we know about the judge Tola. However, this man is quite significant because he would have cleaned up all the mess left behind by Abimelech. Not only was he able to restore order, but he also continued his judgeship for 23 years after. This suggests that Tola was a man of patience. He would have had to correct a lot of evil that had been perpetuated by his predecessor.
