The LORD’s Prayer, Part 11 Kingdom, Power, Glory

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. (Matthew 6:13)
Here, we confess that God has ultimate authority over everything. His kingdom, power, and glory are always consistent, which is why we can trust Him. He is not sovereign today and powerless tomorrow. Unlike everything else, His authority and glory never ceases.
This is a statement of surrender. If God is the omnipotent King over all, that means that we are not. We submit to Him, recognizing His sovereignty. We lay down our weapons. We forsake our evil ways. We pick up the cross and say, Thy will be done.
And then you reaffirm everything again by saying Amen.
