The LORD’s Prayer, Part 10: Temptation

2024-09-10

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil (Matthew 6:13)

Now the LORD does not lead us to stumble in our sin. We do that ourselves. “But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed” (James 1:14). However, now that we are saved, we want to be saved from the power of sin, and I believe this is the purpose here. We praise Him for being saved from sin’s penalty. However, we learn to be delivered from sin’s power as we walk with Him. We must continually rely on Him; otherwise, we will fall into sin quite easily. There is no one who has fully come to maturity. Resting in Christ is the only way not to stumble, and He will lead us to deliverance.
