The LORD’s Prayer, Part 8: Our Daily Bread

Give us this day our daily bread. (Matthew 6:11)
Give us day by day our daily bread. (Luke 11:3)
This is also summarized by the Lord in another place: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof” (Matthew 6:33-34). Ask the Lord today, and every day after, for the necessities of that day. He guarantees that we who seek Him will have all that we need. We do not worry about a thousand tomorrows; we need a moment-by-moment dependency on Him. This dependency is for our daily bread and for every true physical and spiritual need.
