Take Up His Cross

2021-10-30

I talk a lot about the glorious thought that we are crucified with Christ (Galatians 2:20). We went from being dead in sin to being dead to sin. It also means that we have “passed from death unto life” (John 5:24). Knowing this truth is where it begins, but knowledge must be applied for it to bear fruit in our lives.

Picking up our cross is to daily believe the truth that we are crucified with Christ. It is to believe in our identity in Christ. It is to believe that He lives in us and through us. It is to believe that without Him, we can do nothing. It is to see ourselves rendered powerless so that His power can be manifest in us. The cross takes us out of the way and places Christ in the foreground.

Following Him requires death to ourselves before we see His life.

And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. (Luke 14:27)
