The Son of Man Hath Power on Earth to Forgive Sins (Mark 2:10)

All sin is ultimately against God. David, who killed Uriah to marry his wife to cover up adultery, said to God, “Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest” (Psalms 51:4).

The Lord Jesus Christ said to the sick of the palsy, “Son, thy sins be forgiven thee” (Mark 2:5). The audience protested silently to themselves, “Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?” (Mark 2:7).

But Jesus said again, “Why reason ye these things in your hearts? Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house” (Mark 2:8-11).

Jesus is God; He is deity. Against Him have we sinned, and therefore, He also can forgive sin. If He can forgive sin, He can also restore us whole, whether it is spiritually or physically. He has most certainly made us spiritually whole and has restored us to the Father.
