Jesus Is God

Is Jesus God? He sure is. And this makes a huge difference on what you believe about salvation. If Jesus is not God, how is He able to save? How is He able to pay for your sins if He is a mere creature? So, let us hear the Scriptures on this matter:

Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. (Isaiah 45:22-23)

This is in the Old Testament, 700 years or so before Christ came to earth. In the New Testament, we read this passage quoted:

...for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. (Romans 14:10-12)

To stand before the judgment seat of Christ is to give an account to God. We also read the Isaiah passage quoted here:

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:9-11)

Every knee bows and every tongue confesses that Jesus is Lord. Notice here we see that Jesus is God, but He is not God the Father; the distinction must be remembered. There is one God, but there are three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

If God the Son died for your sins, you can count on your salvation to be sure: “Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth” (Romans 8:33).
