Where Is the Promise of His Coming? (2 Peter 3:3-4)
2022-08-14
Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. (2 Peter 3:3-4)
Scoffers do mock like this. “Yet they say, The LORD shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it” (Psalms 94:7). These are there to have us despair of the hope of His coming.
However, if we do not see the Lord’s return in our lifetime, at the very least we will see Him when we die. Live soberly like His return is today. Be careful how you hear the Word of the Lord today.
There is more reason today to believe the Lord’s return could happen in our lifetime than in previous generations. Israel exists as a nation, a foreshadowing of a worldwide government can be seen, apostasy abounds, and a mark-of-the-beast-like monetary system could be set up easily with known technology. Again, be careful how you heard the Word of the Lord today. “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).
