To Save by Many or by Few (1 Samuel 14:6-7)

Jonathan, the son of King Saul, was a man of faith, as was his armorbearer. Check out what they said:

And Jonathan said to the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over unto the garrison of these uncircumcised: it may be that the LORD will work for us: for there is no restraint to the LORD to save by many or by few. And his armourbearer said unto him, Do all that is in thine heart: turn thee; behold, I am with thee according to thy heart. (1 Samuel 14:6-7)

These men probably knew the story of Gideon, and how God saved Israel by a few. However, it is much another thing to be a pair of warriors that would take a whole garrison. If they failed, they would die. They were putting their entire trust in the LORD; without the LORD, their deaths were certain.

Salvation is the same way as fighting an entire garrison of fierce warriors yourself. You cannot stand before the Lord, the judge of all the earth, because of His ordinances we could not keep. Jesus Christ secured the victory over sin, Satan, and hell. He died and rose again. Your trust can only be in Him. Everything else is false sense of security.
