Mine Own Hand Hath Saved Me

Why did the LORD lead 300 men to battle with Gideon rather than 32,000? He tells us, “lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me” (Judges 7:2).

This principle holds true for everything in our lives. Whether it be salvation or the next obstacle that we need to face, He must perform the work, or it opens the door for us to claim, “Mine own hand hath saved me.” “Where is boasting then? It is excluded” (Romans 3:27). “Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:9). He must continually show us our weakness so He can demonstrate His strength.
