Not Performance
2021-08-04
There is a daily reset button, or far more often if you need it, when walking with the Lord. You may tend to give up on pursuing the things of God if you sin, or if you do not live up to some preconceived standard. “For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do” (Romans 7:19). We just cannot perform.
However, constant confession is our reset button with the Lord. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). Whatever the sin, we can confess it, and we receive the forgiveness like a father forgives a rebellious child. We are recommissioned for His service. However, it is important that we recognize that sin is more than “bad stuff” or moral pollution. Sin is a principle that is hardwired into the human condition. Constant confession is a way of life for the Christian, because “For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing” (Romans 7:18).
Keep hitting the reset button and know that salvation is not based on performance. If it were, no one would be saved.
