Let Us Have Grace (Hebrews 12:28)

“...let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably...”

The only way to sincerely serve God is to do so by His grace. We can only offer Him what He has first given us. When we try to serve Him out of our strength, not only is it not accepted, but it also seems to backfire. If service comes from within ourselves, then it is there to serve ourselves. Having grace is also others focused, giving without considering what they can offer you.

We only serve because He first served us. “We love him, because he first loved us” (1 John 4:19). Only because He gave us His life are we able to serve in newness of life. Our power for living is from above. Because we are accepted in Him, we can walk in that grace to serve Him acceptably. Our source of real service is always found in Him.
