“Jesus Never Talked About...” But He Did.

Did you ever hear something like, “Jesus never spoke about homosexuality or abortion”? First, it should be said that just because Jesus never taught on something does not mean that it is not important. This is the “red letter Bible” mentality, as the Jesus Christians believe, that the words of Jesus are more important than other parts of the Scriptures. I discuss this issue further elsewhere.
Another thing is that Jesus did not teach on some things because His audience already knew it. Everyone in His audience would have known homosexuality was a sin, and that children are a blessing from the Lord. Even to the Pharisees, He would be preaching to the choir.
But did Jesus really never teach on homosexuality and abortion? Matthew 19 shows He taught on both subjects.
And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. (Matthew 19:4-6)
Did you see what He did there? He said that God created gender, therefore negating any Biblical support for transgenderism. He then defined marriage between a man and a woman, negating any Biblical support for homosexuality. He quoted Genesis for the foundational support. His main point here is to teach against divorce and remarriage. His audience would have been against homosexuality, but not necessarily divorce and remarriage. Even today, most religious people need to hear more about divorce and remarriage, rather than homosexuality, because they are more likely to be guilty of it.
So, what about abortion?
But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 19:14)
Jesus would not permit the slaughter of children when He wants them to come to Him.
