Great Reasoning Among Themselves (Acts 28:29)

And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves. (Acts 28:29)

This is a good lesson for anyone who has first heard of Jesus. When Paul preached the Gospel to the Jews of Rome, they were divided. “And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not” (Acts 28:24). Paul had a final challenge to them, citing the prophet Isaiah, that they were hardened toward the truth of God. This verse tells us that as these chief Jews left, they continued to think about what the apostle had said.

If you hear about the graciousness of God in the giving of Jesus for our sins, do not fight against it. Everything in this life hinges on Jesus Christ. Salvation is found in no other. There is not someone else coming after Him. Turn to him from this life’s vanity and be saved from our dying world.

For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve (1 Corinthians 15:3-5)
