Gospel Minute 3: None Righteous

Previously, we saw that sin is coming short of God’s glory, and that we all do. However, the “bad stuff” we do and the “good stuff” we don’t do is a symptom of a greater problem: We are sinners by nature. The Lord says, “There is none righteous, no, not one” (Romans 3:10). Because our first ancestors sinned and rebelled against God, that corrupt nature was passed down to us. He says again of the first man, Adam, “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world...” (Romans 5:12). Sin flows from sinners. We were born that way, but we continually and willfully choose to act on that sinful nature we inherited.
This shows us our hopelessness in pleasing God. But this is not the end of it. Everything that we do and are elicits a response of judgment from God, which we will look at next.
