The Gate of Heaven (Genesis 28:17)

And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it... And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven. (Genesis 28:12, 17)
And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man. (John 1:51)

In this place that Jacob called the house of God, or Bethel, he saw this ladder that was a gateway to heaven. This contrasts with the Tower of Babel some chapters before, where people tried to force their way into heaven. God established this ladder as a gate to heaven.

Jesus said that He was this ladder. He is the gate to heaven. You cannot force yourself into heaven, like humanity tried to do at Babel. God provided His gate Jesus. This is the only door there is to salvation. There was one door on the ark that the LORD shut. There was one ladder established at Bethel. There is one gate to heaven, the Lord Jesus Christ.

I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. (John 10:9)
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (Matthew 7:14)
