I AM Statement #3: I Am the Door of the Sheep (John 10:7-9)

A door is a gateway to something new. It can also lock out that which harms. The Lord Jesus Christ also likens Himself to a door:

Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. (John 10:7-9)

Entering in constitutes salvation. However, we continually go through this door. We can continually meet with the Lord, and this continual connection with Christ is what spiritually satisfies. “For we which have believed do enter into rest” (Hebrews 4:3). At the same time, the Lord protects us from following the thief. Be it a false prophet or like enemy, the Lord, as a door, keeps the undesirable from harming His people.
