To Enter into His Glory (Luke 24:25-26)

The ascension of Christ is as important as His resurrection. His ascension to heaven is His procession to His enthronement into heaven. His power and authority are completely fulfilled as He is enthroned in heaven.

Jesus said, “O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?” (Luke 24:25-26). The Lord Jesus Christ is throughout the entire Old Testament: “And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself” (Luke 24:27).

The Old Testament also includes much about his ascension and enthronement: “The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool” (Psalm 110:1). And again, “Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high” (Isaiah 52:13). And again, “I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him” (Daniel 7:13)

It is from on high where He sent His Holy Spirit; it is in the enthroned Christ that our faith and life are complete. “Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men” (Psalm 68:18).

Therefore, the disciples were filled with great joy when Jesus of Nazareth ascended to the Father: “And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven. And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy” (Luke 24:51-52).
