Deliver Us Only, We Pray Thee (Judges 10:15)
2024-03-20
And the children of Israel said unto the LORD, We have sinned: do thou unto us whatsoever seemeth good unto thee; deliver us only, we pray thee, this day. (Judges 10:15)
After order was restored by Tola and Jair, Israel outright rebelled against the Lord. This can easily happen when times are not as hard; you forget the LORD and live for yourself. They adopted false gods. God brought enemies against them to get their attention.
We see true repentance here. They called out to God, but they did not stop there. They continued and showed their repentance by forsaking the vanities and truly worshipping the LORD. “And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served the LORD: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel” (Judges 10:16).
It only follows that true belief will change the outward behavior and appearance of a person. Lord, lead us to real repentance that changes the way we think and believe and act.
