Black Lives Matter

Here are some thoughts on Black lives matter. This will be short and incomplete, but my intentions are to be of utmost respect and Biblical. Please forgive me if this is not the case.

First, I want to differentiate between Black Lives Matter the godless organization and Black lives matter as a simple and truthful statement. I affirm the latter, but not the former. If you go to the organization’s website , you will see quickly that this has nothing to do with honoring God. Black lives matter as the simple statement, however, is Biblical, and should not be treated as mere lip service to real problems in American society and elsewhere.

First, God “hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth” (Acts 17:26). All human beings were made in the image of God and descended from a single man, the sinner Adam. There is no distinction. There are no groups of people that are “special” and there never were.

Likewise, we all need the same Savior Jesus Christ: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

The Gospel is the same no matter who you are: “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28). When the Ethiopian man was saved in Acts 8:26-40, he was saved by the same Savior in the same way as everyone else.

“So, all lives matter, then, right?” Yes, that is what is described above. God would “have all men to be saved” (1 Timothy 2:4). Then why all the ire over saying that all lives matter? Because in American society and across the world, Black lives did not matter for generations. In this country, African people were kidnapped from their homeland and were exploited for free labor. The LORD Himself tells us, “And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death” (Exodus 21:16). That is God’s opinion of the American slave traders: they were very wicked people worthy of death.

Repercussions of events back then continue to this day. Please watch Phil Vischer’s video entitled Holy Post - Race in America. If you are ignorant on these matters, this short firm will show what has been going on. The murders of African Americans by police and citizens are real events. Justice should be served to murderers.

Everyone must accept that Black lives matter to Jesus Christ. Stating that “all lives matter,” while true, is undermining the real issue in that people need to repent, or change their minds, and understand that our society is racist and needs to change. I believe that only real change can come through faith in Jesus Christ. Violence from anyone is not going to fix any problems, as “The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth” (Psalm 11:5). It also does not change people’s minds for the better. People will not just stop being evil. Societal symptoms may change somewhat, but not the root problem.

So, what is the solution? People need Jesus Christ. The Gospel is the free gift of God in Jesus Christ, who received the full wrath of God for our sins. He rose again. There is hope beyond this life. Everyone everywhere needs to understand that regardless of who you are, you need Jesus Christ to be saved from sin, Satan, death, and hell. There is a judgment coming, and just as the Lord does not discriminate in whom He saves, He also will not discriminate in whom He judges. Christianity is not a “white” religion, and Jesus Christ, when He walked on this earth, most likely did not look like a white European. Dispense with any such ideas.

Stand up for the oppressed and the meek: “Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed” (Isaiah 1:17). Expose the wickedness in society but do it humbly. Love people.
