And He Worshipped Him (John 9:38)

And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him. (John 9:38)

When Jesus asked the man He healed at Siloam whether he believed on the Son of God, we see the man’s response. What is the logical conclusion when we believe on Christ, but to worship Him? Even the angels worship the Son. “And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him” (Hebrews 1:6).

The wise men from the east worshipped Jesus as a child. “And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh” (Matthew 2:11).

The leper in need of healing worshipped Jesus. “And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean” (Matthew 8:2).

Jairus worshipped Jesus. “While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live” (Matthew 9:18).

The disciples worshipped Jesus. “Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God” (Matthew 14:33). “And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted” (Matthew 28:17). “And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy” (Luke 24:52).

The Phoenician woman worshipped Jesus. “Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me” (Matthew 15:25).

If it is wrong to worship Jesus, there is a whole lot of idolatry happening in the New Testament. “Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve” (Matthew 4:10). Moreover, if Jesus did not stop them from worshipping Him and He was not worthy of it, He Himself would be a sinner and could never be the Savior. “And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles” (Zechariah 14:16).
