The Words of the LORD Are Pure Words (Psalm 12:6)

David observed there were no faithful or godly people around him, being grieved. He noticed insincere people flattering others, with a “double heart.” They said kind things to others one minute, but their hearts were against them.

The same people who said these things required their “free speech” rights. They demanded that they could say whatever they wanted, saying “With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?” (Psalm 12:4). But the LORD will silence all such people.

These same people took advantage of all the poor of the land, but the LORD will rise up and avenge them.

Unlike these double-hearted, wicked, deceitful people’s words, we see the Words of the LORD are different:

The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. (Psalm 12:6-7)

God’s Words are pure, unlike the double-hearted people’s words. He will keep them, and when He says something will come to pass, it most certainly will. He created the world by commandment; He will destroy the wicked by this command He uttered in this psalm.

These verses ensure that He will preserve His Word from beginning to end; no Word of the Scriptures will ever perish. Herein is the doctrine of preservation of the Word. It cannot be censored or destroyed, and every prophecy will come to pass.

Surely, the vilest men are exalted in our day, which is why the wicked increase. But we can take God at His Word that He will bring an end to them all if they do not turn to Him.
