But the Word of God Grew and Multiplied (Acts 12:24)

While Barnabas and Saul were delivering the gift to the Jerusalem church because of the famine, James the apostle was executed, and Peter was arrested and awaiting the death penalty. Herod was responsible for these arrests.

The church prayed tirelessly for Peter, and by a great miracle, the apostle was released, with his chains falling off and the prison gate opening by itself. Even with great prayer, the church was shocked when Peter showed up.

Herod, accepting worship from his audience, died in a miserable way.

It was a season with both tragedy and victory. However, the underlying narrative continues, whether by tragedy or victory: “But the word of God grew and multiplied” (Acts 12:24).

Whether life is at a high or at a low, be a part of the mission that allows the Gospel light to shine to the world around you.
