Who Made God?

Who made God?

Nobody.

Maybe I should explain. God is “the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity” (Isaiah 57:15). He is “from everlasting to everlasting” (Psalm 90:2). “In the beginning God” already was (Genesis 1:1).

As the creator, God is not dependent on anything. This includes space and time. He may be eternal in the sense that He always was and always will be, but His eternality also means that He exists independently of time and space. He created both space and time. You can see how saying that He always was and always will be does not go far enough.

Every effect may have a cause, but God remains the uncaused. He exists entirely outside the cause/effect paradigm. Recursively finding the cause of every effect will ultimately lead you to the Uncaused, the Creator God.

If God were made or if He began, He wouldn’t be God.
