We may be crucified with Christ, but we also must take up our cross. I am not really sure how to “do” this. The reality is that these deep truths of the Christlife are elusive. They make sense on an intellectual level, but there remains a reality to be grasped. It is wonderful to be forgiven for our sins. But to be freed from the sinner, there it still remains. Surely, Lord, you want this emancipation for me and all your children. Please expedite this work in my life, that there may be only Christlife, and the self-life will remain firmly nailed to the cross in my experience. I consent to die, but how?
