The Way Everlasting (Psalms 139:23-24)

2022-06-22

After expressing the omniscience and omnipresence of God, David the psalmist concludes:

Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. (Psalms 139:23-24)

God is the one who knows the human heart; He knows it better than we do. We cannot hide from Him. To be godly, we must be intentional to ask the Lord to expose our sins and weaknesses of which we may not even be aware. We are aware of the famous verse: “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9). It may be a hard thing, but we need to be willing to be vulnerable before our loving Savior. We do this to expose our wickedness and hidden idols of the heart so that He can get the full return on investment while we sojourn here. This is the way everlasting.
