Up, Up, Over

Romans 1:18-32 shows the degeneration of humankind. You might use this for individuals or the whole society. It is a gauge to see where a society is in its fullness of iniquity (Genesis 15:16).

First, the society recognizes that there is an objective Creator of the universe, but they reject Him in favor of worshipping His creation (Romans 1:18-23). God then gives them up to their desires of uncleanness, which includes fornication (Romans 1:24-25). After this, God gives them up to homosexuality (Romans 1:26-27). Finally, God gives them over to a “reprobate mind” (Romans 1:28-32) This includes all manner of evil, including the most inhumane, cruel behavior, always trying to one-up the next man in his evil.

The end of all this is the judgment of God. “Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them” (Romans 1:32).

Repentance toward the Lord slows this cycle down. We know that western civilization has gone quite far down this “up, up, over” path. (Isn’t it clear this is the path we have been on for a long time?) However, we see much apostasy in those things that call themselves Christian. Go to (a Bible-believing) church and pray with the saints there as we await the Lord’s coming. Proclaim the Lord’s name until His coming.
