Understanding Being Enlightened (Ephesians 1:18)

The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints (Ephesians 1:18)

It is the Lord’s desire to reveal Himself to us to enlighten our eyes. This is something that is ongoing. The reason for this is that unbelievers have “the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart” (Ephesians 4:18).

At first, being saved, we have a limited understanding given to us by the Holy Spirit. After much time in seeking Him, the Lord reveals more of Himself to us. Sometimes it takes a long time, but this time is worth it as we learn to become more like Jesus.
