Thou knewest not the time of thy visitation (Luke 19:44)

Jesus wept over Jerusalem here. I feel like we are here again. Our modern world is on the edge of world war. Our own nation is also ripe for judgment as we see such unprecedented wickedness and deterioration.

But for the Christian, it is time to mortify the flesh and its deeds so we can stand when the evil day comes. And keep looking up.

The war between Gaza and Israel continues. There is also now a war between Israel and Hizb Allah with the latter’s leader Hassan Nasrallah recently killed. People take sides in these wars when there are so few that believe in Jesus Christ there. The Gospel needs to be there, and only that could change things.

There has been some that have said that there was never any Palestine or Palestinians. It depends on what they mean by this. Palestine and Philistine come from the same word. In the Scriptures, the word Palestina is used for Philistia. “Howl, O gate; cry, O city; thou, whole Palestina, art dissolved: for there shall come from the north a smoke, and none shall be alone in his appointed times” (Isaiah 14:31). And again, “The people shall hear, and be afraid: sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Palestina” (Exodus 15:14). But does this help anybody’s argument? The Middle East is a Gospel-bankrupt land.

And this is not your David’s Israel. It is more like Manasseh’s.

In these times, strengthen the inner man and be ready for anything. Come, Lord Jesus.
