This Life Is in His Son (1 John 5:11)

And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. (1 John 5:11)

Eternal life is only from the Son of God. Whether this is life to be born again or life to live life daily, it only comes from Jesus. We are regenerated by the Holy Spirit, but that does not mean that we have life in and of ourselves. If you want to truly live, you will live dependently on Jesus Christ each and every day for the rest of your life. The new man and the new creation, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, is a dependent being. He does not exist unto himself to do his own thing. He is a bondservant and a slave to the Master Jesus Christ, in whom is all life. This is our lot, and a glorious one it is. Whatever we would choose to do in our lives is inferior to what the Lord would have for us. Embrace the life of Jesus Christ, for His life is our life.
