A Thief in the Night

For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. (1 Thessalonians 5:2)

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. (2 Peter 3:10)

Whatever stance you take on the end times, we are told to watch for the coming of the Lord Jesus. We know to look for Him, while the rest of the world is going through life without any concern. At the end, people will think they are safe, and that world peace has been realized. We look for His rescue and escape from the coming judgment.

This is why He tells us this: “Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch” (Mark 13:35-37).
