The Way Everlasting (Psalm 139:24)

Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. (Psalm 139:23-24)

There is no part of the soul that we can hide from God. He knows all things about our innermost being. “I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts.” Every stronghold and hidden idol in the heart must be dethroned. We must stop hiding and come into His marvelous light. “And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?” (Genesis 3:9).

How much better is it to come before our Lord and ask Him to show us our hidden idols? So we let Him apply the cross to the dark corners of the heart that stubbornly won’t surrender. This is to embrace the way everlasting, the narrow way, for He said, “I am the way...” And His way is the way of the cross.
