For He Saith, The Old Is Better (Luke 5:39)

No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better. (Luke 5:39)
The Lord comes and brings something entirely new. The flesh and blood of the old man will never inherit the kingdom. Therefore, Jesus exchanges the old for the new.
He didn’t come to patch up the old clothes. He will not recycle that old wine bottle. He says, “the new agreeth not with the old.”
But we desire the old man. We with tight fists grasp what is ours, including all of the selflife, “for he saith, The old is better.” The Christlife and the selflife do not mix. The old bottles and the old garments were discarded completely. New garment, new bottle, new life.
