Be Ye Stedfast, Unmoveable (1 Corinthians 15:58)
2022-07-08
When some become Christians, friends and family that once were dear become distant. Some of it is that we are changed. Some of it is that we no longer take part in the same sins that our closest friends cherish. Sometimes when we become vocal about the faith, people want to shut you down because of all that religious talk. This was the case with Jeremiah:
Therefore thus saith the LORD of the men of Anathoth, that seek thy life, saying, Prophesy not in the name of the LORD, that thou die not by our hand: Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will punish them: the young men shall die by the sword; their sons and their daughters shall die by famine (Jeremiah 11:21-22)
Anathoth was the place where Jeremiah grew up. Not even one obeyed a word of his preaching. “A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house” (Matthew 13:57).
But Christ has won your victory. He is risen.
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. (1 Corinthians 15:58)
Whatever the world does to you, no matter the evil, the Lord remembers what is done for Him and of Him for good.
