The Word Which I Have Spoken Shall Be Done (Ezekiel 12:27-28)

Son of man, behold, they of the house of Israel say, The vision that he seeth is for many days to come, and he prophesieth of the times that are far off. Therefore say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; There shall none of my words be prolonged any more, but the word which I have spoken shall be done, saith the Lord GOD. (Ezekiel 12:27-28)

Ezekiel spoke in the days when there was a partial captivity of the people, but Jerusalem had not fallen yet. People were interpreting the prophet’s vision as something in the distant future, but he assured them that the time of Judah’s destruction was imminent.

Our situation is a little different concerning the end of the world and the coming of the Lord. “And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power” (Acts 1:7). And again, “And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch” (Mark 13:37). We are to be about our Father’s business until that day. As suggested by the parable of the fig tree, we are given signs preceding His coming. But we know that, when the events start to happen, everything will happen in rapid succession. In those days, don’t let anyone tell you “he prophesieth of the times that are far off.” Rather, “the word which I have spoken shall be done, saith the Lord GOD.”
