They Who Separate Themselves (Jude 1:19)

These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. (Jude 1:19)

Being separated to the Lord is holiness, but there is another type of separating yourself, and it is a negative thing. These are last time mockers walking in sin.

There are the usual people that mock that the Lord has not returned in all this time. However, there are those that separate themselves that may be very religious. They are ultra-separate, extra “holy,” following their own special traditions. It becomes this battle of one-upping one another by doing more good works or refraining from things that are considered to be worldly with extreme monasticism or asceticism. This is common where I live.

We trust Christ to save us. We trust Him to bear fruit within us. Anything done apart from faith and the Spirit is worthless and is its own form of mockery to the Lord.
