Scripture Reading

2022-02-03

I am about to finish reading through the Scriptures again in about ten days. Then it is time to get back to the beginning again. This is a good reminder to remember why we do this in the first place. If the Scriptures can “make thee wise unto salvation” and are “quick, and powerful,” then it deserves a prominent place in our lives. God speaks primarily through His word. If you truly want to hear from God, the Bible is for you!

Reading the entire Bible gives you a breadth of understanding that you will not get from attending church and listening to preaching. There will always be something that is overlooked, or if your church preaches through the entire Bible, it takes many years. You will also miss something along the way yourself. Reading through the Bible yourself takes far less time, and if you do it repeatedly, you will get a very good big picture of the Word of God. If you never have read it all the way through, what are you waiting for?

And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live. (Deuteronomy 8:3)
Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law. (Psalms 119:18)
