Doth He Not Leave the Ninety and Nine (Matthew 18:11-14)
2022-09-05
For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost. How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray? And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray. Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish. (Matthew 18:11-14)
Jesus came to save lost people. And we all were lost at some point. Not only that, but this was His mission when He came to earth: a rescue mission. He went extremely out of His way to rescue us. He left the glory of heaven for the poverty of the human race. He rejoiced the day we were rescued, and He does rejoice. He does not want a single person to perish. It is also the mission of every Christian to leave the ninety and nine for the hundredth sheep, for we all were that hundredth sheep.
