Rabshakeh

Sennacherib king of Assyria sent his servant Rabshakeh to the besieged Jerusalem to tell the inhabitants to surrender.

Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you. Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us: this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria. (Isaiah 36:14-15)

There are a lot of voices out there saying to not trust in the Lord, and that He cannot save. A thousand and one circumstances in your life try to lure your attention away from what really matters. These are all the voice of Rabshakeh: Do not trust in the Lord; it is futile.

But the Creator of all can deliver you out of anything, whether it be sin and hell, or your temporal circumstances. He may or may not do according to your expectations, but He can get you through whatever it is.

How did Hezekiah tell his servants to respond to Rabshakeh? “Answer him not” (Isaiah 36:21). Rather, tell it to the Lord, and believe that He will answer.

Then the angel of the LORD went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses. (Isaiah 37:36)
