A Prophet Is Not Without Honour (Mark 6:4)

But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house. (Mark 6:4)

Jesus went to His own country to be rejected. He says the Prophet is most rejected in His 1) own country, 2) among His kin, 3) and His house, meaning His household. Jesus’ hometown of Nazareth, His extended family, and even His own siblings rejected Him. It may be the same with us as Christians who want to preach to the people with whom we grew up.

If you become a Christian, to be like Jesus is to draw lines in the sand among your own family and friends. It will make a difference for sure. Perhaps even to this extent, where they “rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong” (Luke 4:29).
